Let’s Murmurate!

The Dance of Nature

I’ve written about “Sacred” before. It is one of my favorite words because, basically, it changes everything (see here how it even makes sex better)

Last year I designed a driveway around sacred geometry. I happened to be in a foreign country and the workers looked at me like I was completely cuckoo when I tried to explain the geometry that appears throughout nature. There was a bit of a language barrier, so I showed them the shell on the sundress I was wearing to demonstrate. They went away laughing and shaking their heads. The driveway turned out pretty well – more circle than swooping shell, but okay! Circles also appear throughout nature and carry the meaning of eternity and infinity and balance. All good!!

I was reading recently about murmurations of birds, such as starlings, and how the real magic happens when huge numbers of birds are flying together. Perhaps you’ve seen a flock of birds, flying in a synchronized formation, that spontaneously breaks into a diving, swirling motion, creating swoops and spheres and waves, like some sort of supernatural sky dancer. Talk about Sacred Geometry!!

This phenomena has been described as a “choreographed dance” or “celestial strangeness.” To me it is just spectacular!

And….in my celestially strange brain, an “aha” went off – all of these individual birds flowing, working together, effortlessly co-existing in perfect synchronistic harmony. How beautiful!

This. This is it. This is what I am trying to describe when I say, “World Transformation depends upon Individual Transformation.” You see, a few birds flying together, or 10 birds flying together, is nice. But it takes a mass movement to turn nice into spectacular. It is when we reach a super mass that we can begin to really “murmurate.” That’s when we can create magic. That’s the magic I am trying to create with my book, Soul Primer.

Think of it this way: If, in your town, there are a few people, maybe 10 people, who regularly practice kindness, openness, and empathy. Well, they can surely do a lot of good. Hurrah! Now imagine if there are 1,000 people regularly practicing kindness, openness, and empathy. Even better! Imagine 100,000 of us. A billion. 8 billion. Wow. Imagine the world we would live in then. People weaving amongst each other, and throughout nature, with kindness, openness, and empathy. Add to that abundance, fearlessness, gratitude…. A world in harmony and balance. A world in which all humans recognize the divine, surrender to the divine, and remember the intelligent beauty of ourselves in connection with all of nature. A world murmurating gracefully with each other and with nature. This is my small goal.

It’s not impossible, and it’s not even that hard. It’s simply a numbers game. And we are, each, numero uno. Then, we welcome others to do the practices, to learn the dance, to share the goodness, until we have enough to create a murmuration. A beautiful vision indeed.

Wishing you all a celestially strange and divinely choreographed day. Call in your flock. Create your murmuration. Let’s choreograph this dance of life into one of beauty, harmony, and balance, for all.

Love, Cate
