Where Sacred Resides
I woke up the other morning with this lovely thought in my head:
“Every single thing I come into contact with is here for me.”
(Our waking moments are ripe for deep insights. I highly recommend allowing yourself to wake slowly. Rather than rushing to open your eyes and jump out of bed first thing in the morning, take a moment to scan those messages that rest just below the surface, at our higher brainwave levels. And keep a notepad near your bed to record them! Like dreams, they fade quickly.)
Now, I have long taught that every person we meet has something to give us or to learn from us, and we, equally, have something for them. But this concept – every single thing! – was a whole new level of relativity. Could it be that the universe was constantly creating this complex and beautiful weaving of life specifically for me? And for you. And you, and you, too?
It is hard for our human brains to comprehend this concept. I mean, talk about higher math!! But so it is. Every little thing is a part of the sacred fabric of our life. The sunset, the guy cutting us off on the freeway, the blooming rose, the summer cold. The joys, the sadnesses, the ecstasies, the sufferings…. All of it is a perfect part of my journey. And simultaneously a perfect part of your journey. Wow.
Those of you who read my work regularly know I love the word “sacred.” Not in a religious way, but in a deep-awareness way of seeing life.
When we see every bit of life as sacred, it changes everything.
It changes the way we approach work, the way we handle relationships, the way we watch (or don’t watch) the news cycle, the way we love. And yes, we learn to love all of it. When I went through my dark void period earlier this year (see here), it was hard. But I am so eternally grateful that I didn’t fight it. I waited it out. I observed its peculiarities. And I was blessed by the trial of it. In a sacred life, where we recognize that our journey is perfectly designed for us, in this particular iteration of life, everything is a blessing. Yes, everything.
Everything is a blessing
If you read my work, you also know that I am a big believer in agency. We all have agency to change our lives, and it is up to us to use it. Be bold, make changes, follow your dreams. This is what we are called to do in the face of life’s challenges. Choreograph your actions to be in alignment with universal guidance. Make your interaction with life a sacred and unforgettable dance. I’ve had so many people ask me “Who does that?” when I tell them the things that I have done. My own mother asked me, “Where did you come from?” because of the things I’ve achieved (despite a challenging childhood).
So, tonight is a full moon. This is an auspicious time to make a bold action to better your life, or to move you along the path of your dreams. Why not?
